Forever captured
Like fireflies in jars
And summer sun memories,
Fires by the water
And star filled skies at night.
Held dear within
Like puppy dog kisses
The smell of sheets dried on the line,
The first kiss so very long ago
And the feelings it forever stirred.
Ocean waves and lunar eclipse
Out on the water
Dancing after midnight,
Long past bedtime back then….
New places,
New faces
And those that are now long gone,
Treasures of the heart
Leaving smiles and memories
In their wake,
Late night talks just because
To hear your voice gave such joy,
Candles lit and Christmas trees
Tears and toasts,
Hellos but never goodbyes
Just so long for now
Friends and lovers
The universe delivers
It’s gestures like gifts,
Held close to the heart
And you are always wondering
Is it you I write of or something else,
Laughingly no, this isn’t about bread,
Or about silly things instead,
Just for you
Just because
I don’t want you to wonder
If you rate like chopped liver,
This ones for you babe
Somewhere out there
Beneath the autumn sun
Hopefully dreaming
Of me too.
Always treasured
Always loved
And even better than Swiss cheese I might add.

Thoughts on my loving husband who reads my words and often wonders, what the hell is she talking about…this ones for you my dear.
I think sweetest day is coming soon…this is your card….saving money again…

Eyes of life

Who wears the mask
Charlatan or jester
Princess or devil
Lurking behind
The steel grey eyes
Watching the world
Hidden by lies.
Who wears the mask
Of hero or foe
Of bird or beast
With emerald eyes watching
The downcast eyes
Empathy lies
At the hearts edge within
Spilling over
Like rain on porcelain.
Who wears the mask
Of madman or saint
Of woman or man
Behind eyes of Hazel
Watching the world move along
Mardi gras parade
Noise drowns the sound
Of a child’s cries
Of a wounded soul
Eyes now blind no longer see
Hands like roots reaching out
With a simple touch.

Autumn wisp

Beyond the walls
The cold harsh box
Devoid of soul
Emerge to a wisp of sun
Finding me
Its warm greeting like a hug
And life begins
With the close of the door.
Walking on pavement
High grasses grow beside
Littered with dull shades
And decaying leaves trapped,
It is here in the ugliness
That beauty stands
Gently waving
Come see about me,
Tender purples serenade the soul
And a single bee buzzes merrily
On its way to visit each one
And I stop
Going back to get a better view
To touch the autumn petals,
To admire the loveliness
In the field of nothingness
Something so special
This way comes.
I feel the calm of nature
Fall over me like a cloak,
I climb into the carriage
That will take me far away
To the home of the woods,
To the heart that waits for me,
I will return tomorrow
Sweet violet bloom
See you then in the rising sun
Beside the pavement
Where the wild things grow
And beauty lies waiting
To be found.
