One step in time

The distance stands so far away-
A mountain to climb
Of thoughts and change,
So daunting it seems
As each step taken
Higher to climb.
Spectacular views of peace
The serenity of a thought captured
With focus and intent
What seems to be so hard comes
So easily as one by one
These steps move along
The soul to reach
The highest conclusion.
To stand atop what seemed so large
To look down to find was
Really so small,
The journey filled with light
Guiding through pain and fear
And to stand above self and truly see
What lies within was always there
Waiting to be found,
But to take that step
The choices made
And the bliss to see
It was only one single thought away
From the reality of
The top of the world.
