Gently we go

Into the memory bank to make a withdrawal,

gently we go into our days remembering

as an image comes to mind,

when things are broken we need to gather

the proper tools of love to fix the pieces.

Holding carefully we examine the thought,

swept through this waking dream we conjure

the invisible lines that separate us from now to then,

retracing the steps through magical realms

and revisiting the sacred spaces of our youth.

We affix the pieces together like a puzzle,

knowing just where to place each one

to complete the image just so,

we smile in our perfect innocence

and turn the page to find

the next adventure.

Why this image brought me forth

from a mid morning daydream of bears and special places,

of doing the best to mend,

and as my finger traces I go back to the days

of reading such sheer magic,

a gift from someone,

but pencil images in hard covered volumes,

fill a mind with wonder

at the simple things

that gave a smile.

Our pup Apple was a bit gimpy yesterday and although we made it through our morning walk this morning, she is having her moments of limping and quite clingy, following me everywhere through the house. I remembered this picture and pulled it up on-line, how I wish I had a magical wand to make her leg return back to her normal marching gait, but for now she will sit beside me in slumber, resting against me as she has her doggie dreams where she chases the varmints like a young girl again. Peace and a lovely Tuesday my friends.

  1. I can see the image in my mind Christopher, ’em Robin ๐Ÿ™‚ what a great memory ๐Ÿ™‚ I think we all had page boy haircuts….my mom’s was pleasantly referred to as the take a bowl and cut around it…although I did like my Dorothy Hamill doo ๐Ÿ™‚

  2. This was an older post but I loved Winnie the Pooh and Christopher Robin. My Dad read to my two weeks brothers and I every night but omitted the word, name, “Christopher” and called the image a girl, using she and her while saying Robin. Of course, you may guess why?!
I’m Robin, who had a page boy haircut in light brown hair. Smiles and hugs to you, Kim. โค

  3. Doing better today, we’ve been taking it easy on her but she slept on the couch last night instead of attempting to get up on the high bed, eating her bone as we speak, smiling๐Ÿพ๐Ÿพ๐Ÿพ๐Ÿพ๐Ÿ˜Šthank you for asking, I appreciate that๐Ÿ’•๐Ÿ’œ

  5. thank you Helene, I say prayers for all my fur babies daily. I think our walks have become too fast and too long and she may have pulled a muscle in her shoulder/leg. Thank you and I’m glad you enjoyed. โค

  6. I hope so, I think she just pulled something in her leg, it comes and goes but we’ve also increased our morning walk to an hour or more, by the time the hour rolls around, she starts going lame. I just hug her, check out her feet to make sure she didn’t step on anything and slow the pace considerably. She must know I’m writing about her, she’s staring up at me every minute ๐Ÿ™‚
