I’ve got my lime
I’ve got my mint
I left the last of the ice in it,
I found the rum
stole the hummingbird food too,
went round the world (on-line of course)
in search of the perfect mojito.
I love the green that swims in it
I love the drops from the cold as it sits,
To pluck and chop and stir so sweetly
but it always seems to go down too quick
I’ve got more limes
more than enough time
the sweetest man who whips it up
service with a smile
I think I may just have to sit with it awhile,
savor the flavor beneath the winter sun
and pretend like I’ve just begun,
hey bartender, I’ll take one more
as the Mexican perky music plays
I realize these my friends, are perfect days.
Hubby and I grabbed some mint at the farmers market and some limes, whipped up some sweet syrup and relaxed poolside sipping, then hubby found a new recipe, the best one yet and mixed more up the next day. He’s had the flamingo stir stick for over 25 years, must have known it was a harbinger of things to come, moving to Florida and yummy drinks poolside. Life is good indeed. Ribs on tap for dinner tonight and looking forward to that.
Now that’s LIVING! I love mojitos! They are so light and refreshing. Here’s to you and your hubby! May you both continue to enjoy and appreciate the sweet life together 🙂

I’ll have to have the hubs write it out so I get it right. I’ve always used simple sugar syrup but he found one where you use regular sugar, easier by far and adjusted to taste. When he gives it over, I’ll post it for ya’all😊🏅

I cannot do black eyed peas. Now, for this, you can have my Georgian’s card. I cannot do them. They’re nasty, hands down. Yes, neckbones in the collards, hamhocks’ll do. Back in the day, when I ate pork, I’d eat it all. Haha! Ooh, don’t tell him yet, then. LOL. No yelling is needed!

What???? Neckbones in the collards? Now who would have thought? I like neck bones in the spaghetti sauce but I put the ham hock in the collards, with vinegar to eat too. Ha, gotta find the card to pull it. Do I get credit for boiled peanuts? No Pork? Don’t tell Jeff, that’s very sacrilegious. He hasn’t met a chop he didn’t like 🙂 So he’s gotta make beef ribs when you come then, I’ll tell him…..If ya hear yelling’, don’t blame me 🙂 haha. Pull my card, well, I did file away apple pie with vanilla ice cream in my thought box when you visit…..Keeping track, but nope, no lima beans. Black eyed peas? I like them.

Kim, how are you gonna praise hamhocks, but not lima beans? That’s like taking collard greens without the neckbones. I mean, I do not do neckbones anymore, cuz I don’t do pork, but mentioning hamhocks and not liking lima beans in the same sentence, in the SOUTH, seems pretty weird. I think I’m going to have to pull your newly Floridian card.

lima beans? Um, nope….not on my supper list, EVER 🙂 hubby is cleaning the pool, has black bean soup with the ham hock cooking (tomorrows dinner fare) and I’m playing a bit of catch up here, yay, I love catchup time 🙂
