We move in and out
Trying to catch moments
Like butterflies in nets,
fliting from here to there
watching minutes move
off of center
but still as good
clouds gift us with the freedom
of visibility.
The whimsy of what we witness
bystanders in a stand by moon orbit,
cheshire cats smile
behind paper glasses,
or a piece of cheesy pasta
hanging magically in the sky,
and now slipping past
a cookie with a small bite missing
as the shadow lingers before
becoming magically whole once more,
we tuck our glasses
into breast pockets
saving for the seven year itch
to travel back to yesterdays lands
in totality to see
new and exciting angles
from this little blue ball
we call home.
We did not have a full eclipse here in sunny Florida, and I think I may have gotten a little sunburn, ha….hence the in and out to catch glimpses. So very cool and saving the paper glasses for 2024. Gotta remember where I put them….I’ll let you know then. ππππ
now that is a great idea π mine are just dollar cheapie from Walmart. They’d fit in an envelope. π thanks Ken π

I’ve read that eclipse glasses shouldn’t be used if they’re more than 3 years old.
From Astronomers Without Borders:
“Give your eclipse glasses a second chance! Astronomers Without Borders and Explore Scientific are collecting glasses to be sent to schools in South America and Asia when eclipses cross those continents in 2019.”

I didn’t get the glasses, but it was ok, lots of eclipse watchers were sharing their glasses! It was nice that it was such a nice day, wasn’t it? Beautiful poem, you expressed it perfectly!

I hope the next one I can be in totality….I can never say i was let down by a fun universe gift, but next time, I shall ask the clouds to stay away and be blown away by the show π peace and love, K

always dreaming in broad daylight, and darkness too π thanks Michael, I like the new theme too, kind of suits me I think. It was time for a changeup and you know me, kicking my way through trial and error when the perfect one was right in front of me all along π peace and love, always, Kim

Love the new theme, Kim! And this piece, too. You have such an effortless way with words. It’s like watching children play hopscotch in the park, backwards, with their eyes closed. Wait… Children are leaping out from behind one another. They’re in technicolor and they have smiles like talking iguanas who’ve known all along. It’s like human fireworks. Oh… No. It’s Kim. She’s dreaming in broad daylight again!
Always a pleasure, my friend.
Peace
Michael

Delightful. No big deal here either, clouds obscured it.

Ha, I’m always connected to the universe and it is always rich with its provisions for writing fodder. We’re just chatting about you, all good my dear, I was contented as was Uncle Jeff for our lunar/sun show today….the ways of space always leave me enthralledππππππ peace and love…and steaks on the grill tonight. Mmmmmmπ

I could see the lines as I read them–the imagery is tantalizing, Kim. Too bad you did not get the full gist of the eclipse down your way, we did not either in my area. I loved these lines:
“The whimsy of what we witness
bystanders in a stand by moon orbit,
cheshire cats smile
behind paper glasses,
or a piece of cheesy pasta
hanging magically in the sky,”
It’s always inspiring how you can take the simplest things and turn them into greatness.
