Casting shadows

We box with the darkness
fighting the shadows of thought
moving like banks of cloud
drifting through soundlessly,
covering the soul in its silky threads.
We create the images within,
salvation a necessity,
taking ourselves to places far
and escaping the words that jab and thrust
meant to create ugliness
we search instead for light.
Through painted smiles we see
the truth will always rise like cream
swimming on surfaces suspended
held by the hope of a thousand beings
as we stir the pot
trying to bring up yet more
changing the grey thick brine
to a tolerable shade,
swimming in the shallows
we touch feet to ground
yet often wonder how long it will last,
as it trembles like set custard
we take a step forward
trusting in the higher being
to save us from the nightmare,
to deliver us to
the dream.

  1. Good to hear that you’re ok, and the house seems to have held up. Cleaning up is a bore but always satisfying: you can see the result when you are finished. And the broom and mop and bucket don’t need updates or resets. ๐Ÿ™‚

  8. Wind mitigation? Wow. Sounds serious. Normally hurricanes lose strength when touching land. Hope that will be the case. Our thoughts and prayers are with you guys. Do you have a cellar?

  11. Hi Kim. I hope you are all boarded up, and possibly have moved inland?
Be safe. Here the rains have been tremendous, a good part of the city was flooded last night.
    So be careful.

  12. this is a first for me, and hopefully a last. If we had to go, we’d take the pets of course…they’re my babies โค I think I could live with a Cat 3 but a 4 or 5 scares me to death…..watching the neighbors and taking cues as necessary โค

  13. I think you’re right Kim…Florida is everywhere Irma wants to be so it would take some serious travel to escape it. I often wonder about stray dogs and cats and what happens to them during natural disasters–I try not to think too much about it because it aches my heart.
One thing is sure, folks in Florida have had enough experience to know when to stay and when to leave. Kisses and good vibes to you!

  14. thanks Lady G, we’re debating whether to high tail it out or wait and see….but really, if it goes straight up, it will chase us wherever we go….have water, food….pet food, etc….shutters on the windows and shortly the drapes that bolt to protect the three glass doors will join the party…..it’s some scary sheit for sure! Yes, pray please, it’s all gratefully received โค
