Never ever give up

The opening stands waiting
for the final cut to sever,
the majestic beauty reduced
to wooden cityscape defined.
Time passes unaware
as changes betray the passing,
small life born anew
rising up,
never giving up.
Resilience in action
the shoots raise their arms to the sky,
reaching high as it was born to do,
tiny palm like leaves unfurl
waving gently in the breeze
as if waving the flag
no surrender.

The magic banana tree that was cut down after Hurricane Irma has seemed to start again with a new tenacious little sucker. Below pictures of original tree flower, the city scape left after the downing and now the little Churchill saying to my ears, never ever give up.

  1. me too BW, me too ❀ it is a nice little sucker but alas, it grows so fast and it’s not anchored to the ground so I’m afraid at some point for safety reasons, it will have to be replaced by another fine tree.

  2. Yaaay for the banana tree! I remember when you had to cut it down after the hurricane and am delighted to see the new growth. Here’s to the persistence of Mother Nature! β€οΈβ€οΈβ€οΈπŸ’• So glad you have pictures. 😁

  4. I took them, the tree was two stories high and gave off flowers like he last pic, after the hurricane destroyed the top, we cut it down and the cityscape remained, now the new mini me tree is sproutingπŸ˜ƒ and a cheap digital Kodak camera took them allπŸ˜ŠπŸ’œ

  6. An truly affirming poem. Did you take the pictures yourself. The second, for some reason, fascinates me. It takes the vision of a poet to take and/or select it.
