Perspective

Gazing in anticipation,
eyes move to the prize that sits higher
and watching with patience
knowing with the time that passes
all will be as it should.
Yesterday remembered
with the smile of love
we span the time and travel
back to certain places
and recall the scent of days
beneath a languid sun,
perfect days of laughter
and the hope for more to come.
Grey hair graces a face
perhaps not wanting to see
the future of each of us
like battle scars giving proof
of a life well lived,
so we wait patiently
for the best,
the tastiest bite of these days
and linger just a bit longer
in a yesterday gone,
but seeing in the rays of afternoon light
another moment waiting
to be lived
to be loved.

A celebration of our “gracefully aging” girl Apple as this week will be her fifth year with us, 9 years young, we wonder where the time has gone and this picture from a few years back, still captures her food driven image patiently waiting for the tray to fall into her ever  waiting pie-hole. No, we didnt share…..too spicy for her, she got a bone instead….Life is so tough indeed.
