Life is like a bowl of…

We pass the years
blended and turned into new tastes,
experiments with our bounty
we inhale the aromas brought forth,
sweetest concoctions stirred
a loving hand holds a spoon eager,
the bite of life so loved.
The sun living within the colored orbs
we squeeze the essence out of each day given
spices added where needed
and we sup side by each
sipping the cocktail of our love
content in our bowl of this world
together in beauty
we spin our tales with humor and grace,
collecting the nectar with open hands.
Love takes so many forms,
as I juggle limes while walking
trying to ease the bag open
I gaze around at harried faces
and feel so content as I see you before me,
we come together at the intersection
with baskets loaded with the finest things
and we create laughter for the souls before us
realizing that this day always means so much more,
than a rushed pace that usually finds us tired
and the endless thoughts that fall at day’s end,
here in this moment
we take our fill in gratitude and deliver back to the universe
with love in our hearts,
fruit and meats in our baskets,
a feast for a King or Queen
we will partake of our meal over a crowd of pink roses,
thankful for each moment we have
to be here in this time
together.

A Very Happy Anniversary to my beloved and favorite soul in this whole wide world. Farmers market finds in the fridge, Mojitos on tap this eve and some she sells sea scallops for supper (say that five times fast, I dare you) Life is good and each year will only get better ❤ ❤ ❤ ❤ ❤ Peace and love, K

Splendor seen

Pinprick sweetness
lightness of color suits moods,
whimsical pink calls the lens
come play for just a spell.
Stunning magenta reaches for skies
and the splendor seen,
captured beauty standing proud.

Reminders of childhood puppets
hair standing in silly colors
with a smile and laughter that filled rooms,
eliciting the response in return
to just be
in the throes of youth
the playful sights always caught the mind
and still resides within
somewhere beneath sun filled skies
the plucked bloom withers
so we learned to let it lie
in its comfortable bed
waiting to be seen some other day
by new eyes seeking
a spot of solitude and beauty.

There is a tree down the block that has these lovely flowers on it, so I thought I’d share. Reminds me of hair on some Muppets (remember them?) and now my G friend has me singing the mana mana song yet again. Shivery day out, mid thirties here in Florida and almost time to walk the pups. I shall slip into my thoughts and think of cocoa and warm fires 🙂 and the petal pink colored flowers I affectionately call “who” flowers….like Horton Hears a Who. Enjoy and good morning my friends.

Thoughts drifting

Were stood at a standstill in the harsh light of the sun,

waves of heat rising like a downtown oasis

blanketing life in the haze of a constructed cloud

built of sweat and labor

we slowly inch our way through

as I drift away.

In that space, not here but somewhere close within’

where the soothing wind finds me

like a small craft on an endless sea

or a child in a field of downy tufts

waiting to blow her wish into the skies.

So still yet all around the commotion

of mouths in animation moving fast, devices in hand,

lights that change much too soon

as we try to slip through into the wide open

I hear a melody in my mind

soft and sweet like a lullaby

and I gaze around at the nameless faces

smiling within for I am sitting here in this peace,

while the world rushes all around

I sit here grounded in gentle thoughts

enjoying the moment of the here and now.

I’ve no need to race to the ends of this road,

to play beat the clock and feel the rush

but to just breathe in and breathe out,

escaping into these thoughts that will wait

for the open door and smiling faces

on the quiet street where the spring flowers bloom

and there is room

to move and grow

in an idyllic pace of time passing unnoticed.

It’s always an adventure driving to the closest “big” city, being stuck in gridlocked traffic as the endless construction moves forward, but today I just took the time to be lost in thought, watching the people around me looking stressed and rushed, and felt such a peace to know, we will get where we’re going in good time, there’s nowhere else we need be, and to just enjoy the moment.
