On finding magic

Sleeping in unease

Tossing and turning like a wayward blowing leaf,

Searching the book of dreams for magic,

Flipping pages restlessly

Finding only emptiness in the dark.

Rising in the midnight hours

Snow whips untamed beyond the glass

Walking in half wake motion

Asking the skies for relief.

Thunder of ringing rockets the soul

Out of the depths of night to morning

And stumbling down in search of solace

Holding the book that had waited

For far, far too long.

I find you there,

Nestled between ads and the unnecessary,

Words of laughter and magic find me parched

And it fills the soul with water-like coolness

And I feel the smile within

Rising like a vibrant sun

That had been gone for too long.

Sweet parables of lost time,

And I see these and hold each one close to heart,

Lifting me higher into the realm of knowing

That a reminder was what was needed,

That to hold these words close in a cosmic hug

Brought me into the day

Balanced on a teeter-totter

Kicking my legs in glee,

Please, don’t let me down as I fly

Let us go higher into this moment,

To be alive like a child’s gleeful laughter,

Finding the magic once more.

Twilight escape

As slippery sun sinks
Into its envelope
Behind clouds,
As quiet desperation of a long day
Ebbs away
With the breath of peace
Consuming it.
Like a flame to aged paper
Ignited with splendor
Of twilight,
I shall sit beside
Cool still waters
Reflective of the sky above
Healing energy will run through
Like lotion on parchment skin
Absorbing
Soothing
Cooling.
It is there that I am reborn
Muscles fall into states
Of nothing
Unmoving
Taking on the look of death
So very still
Yet so very much alive
As blood rushes through
Earth massage
Of time and space
And a mind wiped clean
Sultry nature spa.
Ready for the stars and moon
Galaxy drive thru view,
Splendid and worthy
Of every award
The dark blue carpet
Cosmic flashbulbs
Paying homage to
The silent twinkling above.

Dream bearer

She comes in the black of midnight
Moonless skies thick with angry clouds,
Wind whips through windows
Curtains dance like dervishes
Frenzied lace on dresser blows.
Snuggled below feather quilt a shield
She comes with her pitcher
Filled with the dust of dreams,
Like a fine mist scattered
Enveloping me in the illusions,
Peace moves through behind closed eyes.
Body limp, decompressed as she anoints me with visions,
Sand and sun and days of a paradise land,
I wonder in awe at the lavender skies
Tinged with pink as the sun moves down,
Caressing the horizon like a lovers touch.
She touches the center between my eyes,
My forehead relaxes
Third eye awakened to beauty and wonder,
I am here breathing
A gentleness among the maelstrom,
Untouched by the storm,
Unaware almost of the outer realm,
For here she has given the brightness
To block out the unknown foe of night,
She has harnessed my dreams and lead me
To a sunrise of calm.
