Glass words

Your words so precious
Colored pieces like polished glass
Picked up gently
Piece by piece
Examined
No imperfection found.
Sweet shining letters
Sit on the edge of thought
Fragments of a whole
Pieced together to create
Art so beautiful
That will only last in memory
As tides move out washing away
With new words on another day.
How you want to have them all
Every bit found priceless
To create mandalas of life
Spinning weaved catchers
Like nets for fish
With holes too large
Each piece like sand falling out
Back to the bottom of blue
Yet remembered for each unique beauty
That always leave you
Grasping for more.
I hold your words in my soul
Wishes given for allowing
The chance for but a moment
To call it my own
To write words in glass pebbles
And see the slate wiped clear
To make room
For the next creation.

Pieces of sea

Thoughts break carelessly
Sharp edges slide below the surface
Dreams and bits of this and that
Move into the deep
Worn down fragments remain.
Words like shells scattered
Rolling on the floor,
Drifting and dancing
Polished smooth through the years
As tides of life
Move in and out
Carried on currents
Of everyday minutes
Ticking by like
A wave lapping shore.
Skies of blue
Various shades stacked
One atop the next
As we watched the storms come and go
Surrendering to the might and beauty
Of a gift of a day
Pieces of the sea
Glass treasures found and held
In a hand like a gift
Brought home
With pockets full
Of memories.

Of sea glass

She sits on mossy rock
Drifting
She washed herself up
To sit
In the land of mortals,
To feel the sun
On her beauty.
She glistens
Like sea glass
Slightly faded
From her journey
Through waves and sand.
She waits for no one
She looks out to where she has been
Sees the birds fly overhead
She is the ocean treasure
Gracefully waiting
To be found.
