Gazing at Now

Into the now I linger,

beyond the panes I see

touches of color blending moods

like coming home.

Star filled skies soothe the spirit

as the mind meditates amongst the trees,

my sentient soldiers wait

as the rhythm slows to calm,

I am borne of dust and shining things

in the moment of knowing

all that I AM.

Tranquility serves release in dreams

through the deep of night I linger,

speaking to the specters in tongues

I remember the ancient language

and tell their story

of life’s journey through

the ether of this second passed

leaving me aware and longing.

The incense burns its sweetest scent

as I am carried through the portal,

starstruck and mystified

I hang on the cusp

and dream.

Simplicity

Essence of a thought
drifting through in a dream,
words falling down like water
on the edge of a deeper sleep.
Slipping away in the ether
of cloud-like images born
in memory banks now opened
and blooming in the blink of an eye.
We remember the fragments,
the smallest petal of beauty
the shades of moods
in day-to-day dealings,
words of simplicity slip through
and ground the mind in
a quiet peace.
Where is it now,
those things remembered
having rolled off of the tip of the tongue
in the dark hours of calm
I can’t recall the name
of that moment
as I had then,
saddest things of magnificence
once alive
now a ghost of the shadow self.

Amongst the stars

The silence
deafening in its nature,
silky stars light the blanket
of midnight darkness
a thousand diamonds
hosting brilliant beams,
slipping me in to their warm cocoon
yet still cold I float
amongst the stars
searching for signs
of life.
Bluest of blue spread before me
and the movement of a small lizard piques the awareness
its breath a subtle in to out
as it watches me watching it,
his mission perhaps to sidetrack the mind,
turning my gaze back
knowing there is more to see
beyond the reality before me
dotted landscape drawing me in
to float in the ether
of now.
Ripples lull the senses
and the distant bird call breaks the air,
silence a word now passed
I listen for the sounds
of blinking satellites that slide before my eyes,
movement slow and steady
the red sky beacon breaks the beauty
and I reach out to bat it away,
a mosquito or insect breaking my thoughts
of this zen-like mojo moment,
I breathe in and close my eyes
to remember the time in seconds
when peace stood still for me
and I felt its warm embrace,
knowing I could not fall while held
as I became one with the way
and the blues and purples meshed
into the shroud of heaven
and for just that second I smiled,
knowing this was just another sign
of being lost in time.
