Nostalgia (haiku)

Sundays with Grandpa

Happy forest family

Reptiles lurk below.

Lumbering giants

friends who come to save the day

Moments remembered.

Black and white world then

life filled with easier times

captivated awe.

Went kayaking the other day and saw a gator a few feet away churning in the water, and now images of the old Tarzan “movie for a Sunday afternoon” days keep bubbling up in my mind. Nostalgia at its best.

  1. I think a bigger boat would still be safer, I like to take a break paddling and at rest, my hands are at best, five inches from the water….they can propel pretty good, and mating season, I hear they can get aggressive…..wish me luck on our next day out๐Ÿ˜Š they scare me๐Ÿ˜ thanks JoAnna…I hope they keep their healthy fear of us๐Ÿ˜Š๐Ÿ™๐Ÿป

  2. The gator my daughter and I saw years ago was swimming away from us and kept looking over its shoulder at us. (afraid I suspect) but we were in a canoe, so felt safer maybe than if we’d been in a kayak.

  3. Thanks Deb, gators get me on edge, especially when I’m five inches from the water….fears of them hurling their bodies up and sinking my boat and having a Kimmie snack….Eeeks !!!!๐Ÿ˜
