Like the slick silver sliding
falling down to bring you up,
drizzle on the muzzle
shake it off
shake it off
and slipping and drifting
down the road of happy misery,
a little rain never hurt no one
but the witch in stories of olde.
I’m not melting but my eyes are crying
yet not from feelings
but the cleansing of the skies falling down,
t-shirt wet and pockets soaked
they look with tired eyes
not quite enjoying the foray
down the path of everyday
but the new sense and grey mornings
soaked through like chrome at the car wash,
we muddle along
in a puddle they piddle
and we laugh in the end
’cause ain’t much you can do
when the showers of life
rain down upon you
and the four amigos shake
shake shake it off
towels hung to dry
and another walk later
when skies are clear,
do we have to my dear?
Went for our morning walk only to be far enough down the street that when the skies opened up, we became soaked to the skin, the dogs looked at us like “let’s get home” so we turned around but not much could be done. Cold front is at the door, mid fifties tomorrow, good thing we weren’t walking in that cold, we might have turned to people and pup popsicles. Brrrrr…..fun though in hindsight…..
or in my case, no rain gear 🙂 ha! thanks my friend ❤

I have heard it said… there is no such thing as bad weather, just bad rain gear.

thanks Winifred, it was an unexpected writing prompt lived, the pups were a bit confused. We usually go between drops. ❤

How lovely! Was enchanted with the first read, but found it more humorous with the second, and added context.

Sounds like fun, Kim! I don’t mind a ‘warm’ rain, but when those giant cold drops are slapping your skin…ugh!! 😁
Hope all is well 💜

Why would you be pathetic? Just keep a blanket at hand. In Mexico city, we sleep with a down quilt most of the year… (I hate being cold at night) 😉

I don’t think you can sue Mother Nature…she’s quite a fickle creature but a force to be reckoned with. will be back up to 79 tomorrow and then 80s again 🙂 I was shivering in bed last night with no fan on and no windows closed. I’m pathetic 🙂

Well, I thought Mexico was a tropical country… We’ve been freezing our… butt for the past month… (Who can we sue?)

I was worried about ruining them, a new brand I’ve never used before, Riku or something like that, I have another pair i’ll try tomorrow, after that the new ones should be dry, but at least now I know 🙂

I’ll watch for it on Youtube 🙂 but it will be fun, trust me, no sidewalks here, just strolling down the street in the puddles 🙂

That’s what I always want to do – I love the bit where Gene Kelly prances an and off the pavement.
Next time, maybe I’ll do it, and sing, too 🙂

my sneakers are still wet, and they were only 2 weeks old, now I had to switch to my old beat up ones and now I know why my legs ache today 🙂 now the cold front, mid fifties tomorrow morning but no rain for it, at least I don’t think so….eeeks!

always find the courage to dance….that’s how you become an internet sensation….dance like no ones looking I think is how they put it. I was doing my Singing in the Rain impression, hubby got a chuckle from it…the pups, not so much 🙂

yep, tomorrow morning mid fifties, argh….so not ready for that yet! Will feel like a FL winter as opposed to fall even 🙂

thanks Betty, yep, I was laughing, in between trying to wipe my face off, the dogs didn’t appreciate it either but it was funny in the end 🙂

thanks Derrick, not my kind of weather, prefer a bit of sun and a nice breeze, not wet dog kind of day 🙂

the gardens sound like a lovely plan. Cold front here too, mid sixties this morning and tomorrow morning mid fifties……brrrrrr…..don’t think I’m ready for that yet…..even have a long sleeved shirt on but I did hang the laundry out on the line in the brisk breeze today, just waiting on the darned blanket….takes forever ❤ so glad you enjoyed our rainy adventure, my sneakers are still wet! argh 🙂

I love this one Kim! The voicing, the disaster turned into play, the doggies and you and everything just hanging out in a good soaking downpour. The Florida kind. We’ve got the cold front today. A welcome change, I must say! Of course isn’t yet winter cold–just beautiful autumn cold. The kind that makes me want to go to Longwood Gardens–if it doesn’t rain!

Kim, I enjoyed this light-hearted rainy poem. What else can one do when caught in a downpour but laugh. Sometimes. 😉

50s is unseasonably cold for you, isn’t it? Raining heavily here, too, but warm and humid, it could be August, not October. Tomorrow will be a different story, though.

I love it when I go into town in fine weather, unprepared for a storm, and then suddenly it starts pelting down. Everybody but me rushes to huddle in shop doorways, as if water will burn their skin, while I walk in the middle of a road that’s become a river, kicking kicking through it, wishing I had the courage to dance…
and I love this poem, which reminds me so much of that feeling.

This really puts me in the rainy scene: Love the ‘soaked through like chrome at the car wash’ line. Extremely vivid.

Good morning Sheldon,
I haven’t been painting at all of late, I really need to start that again. Rainy today and cold front moving in, which will feel good of course for a change. It started out as a light mist but then poured, my entire body was soaked, new sneakers, everything. Glad I changed out of white T-shirt to colorful one before we left…might of scared some folks 🙂 Hope you’re well, I’m off to lunch with a friend in a few minutes and then back to the WP reading, you’re up shortly 🙂
As Kim, always.
