Dantes’ Mountain

Skies linger over cloud conversations
whispered from the edges
out of view of the setting sun
hanging on for just a moment,
balanced on tips of rock
ready and waiting
for the falling over
into the abyss.
Guiding stars wait patiently
for the tired journeyman dallying
eager to touch his feet
on the doorstep of home,
yet entranced by the beauty of now,
he watches the moments pass
and light dances for seconds for his delight
steady step as darkness draws nigh
he moves to the pace
of his deepest breath.
Eyes gaze into the heavens
as he questions the folly of his quest,
empty-handed yet a mind filled to overflowing,
memories gathered here and there
on moments when strangers passed,
his solitary walk nearing the end
and his passion for tales spinning in his mind,
he is coming home
to his peace.

Spent a little time today tampering with my watercolors and came up with this piece. I call it Dantes’ Mountain. A peace filled day off before a new week starts, and a day of snacks to come and some football (go team!) hopefully not as bad a game as last week (go away team was yelled more than once). Peace and love and a blessed Sunday to all โค

  1. Oh my…it wouldn’t be an instant chill for sure. Which is doubtless what you would want. ๐Ÿ™‚ However, we use it even in the hottest weather–each side has a thermostat. Also, waterbeds distribute body heat so it doesn’t build up in the mattress. Which is doubtless more than you needed to know right now! ๐Ÿ™‚

  2. rocking on the waterbed waves, sounds lovely and warm when needed, I like to be able to roll into cold spots at my age ๐Ÿ™‚ and I think a chilled one in Florida would feel wonderful but I don’t think they make them that get cool? Ha Peace and waves, K

  3. I’m a many-layered woman! Day and night right now. I’m sooooo grateful for silk and merino wool underwear. ๐Ÿ™‚ And a waterbed with a thermostat I can turn up or down at will! 66 sounds like the middle of summer to me right now! Smudge sends a catty smile back from his daytime nap on our waterbed. The best thing going in his little world! D is doing his favorite thing — watching a half hour lecture on architecture or something like that….:)

  6. I knew you would, as soon as I put the star in the sky and it kept coming out a glowing red, said yep, magic. Glad you liked it my friend, you’re magic too๐Ÿ˜Š๐ŸŽ‡

  7. No pressure! I’m just getting started today, after a lovely Sunday that included a walk with D in the Very Windy and More Than Chilly outdoors! The air had a nice little bit to it. And I slept like a baby….:)

  9. Thank you Betty, I was happy to have gotten some time to paint, been too long, I enjoy losing myself in the colors and calmness that it brings๐Ÿ˜Š๐Ÿ’œ๐Ÿ’•๐ŸŒธstill an amateur ๐Ÿ˜Šโ˜•๏ธ๐Ÿช

  10. A butterfly is more E-like, haven’t started a new story yet, have to get up early now with the job to be able to get some reading in before the dog walk and work. Will weave something good up I’m sure as time allows๐Ÿ˜Š๐Ÿ’œ

  11. Beautiful watercolor! I love the shades of light in the sky–and even the ‘red’ North star! ๐Ÿ™‚ The poem makes me think of you–coming home to your peace, with your passion for tales spinning in your mind! I was just thinking yesterday that your new job must be setting off an eruption of plots for your yet-to-be-written tales! Wish I were a fly on the wall/ceiling–better, a butterfly! ๐Ÿ™‚

  12. thanks Tre, It photographed funny as the North star looks red but is really crystal, no matter how many times I took it, it shows as red, so like the inferno, Dante’s mountain ๐Ÿ™‚ so glad you enjoyed it. How’s your sunday going so far? I have an easy week coming up, on two, off three and then one. Woo Hoo….lots of catching up and a letter to write, and other things for the holidays ๐Ÿ™‚ smiles and hugs and hey Jernee โค

  13. Blessings, Kim. This is beautiful, especially this bit:

The photo is mesmerizing and is a lovely work of art. ๐Ÿ’œ
